Long Island Legacy
Carbotech AX6 Front pads Formally the Panther Plus. I ran these on stock rotors since Late March. I Correctly bedded them in and they were great up until the pads wore down and started to grove my rotors. The pr0oblem i had was that the pads are riveted to the rotors which makes for a bad combination when you get low on pad, plus no wear indicators as you can see from the pad on the right became so worn down for some reason that all that was left was the backing plate. this totaly destroyed my rotor. I think the pads were to agressive for OEM rotors and the extra heat they made would be to great as I have had the front rotors glowing from a spirited driving session. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v695/creamfan/Legacy015.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v695/creamfan/Legacy014.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v695/creamfan/Legacy013.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v695/creamfan/Legacy009.jpg Brass Knuckles  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v695/creamfan/Legacy008.jpg

Th3Franz
How do you go through pads in 5 months? How many track events? track pad + not getting to the appropriate temperature range on a daily basis = really fast pad wear and rotor eatage -Franz The end of a Legacy http://www.youtube.com/th3franz

And cast iron melts at about 1100 degrees! Time for better rotors or BBKs and maybe even ducting:eek: "Belief does not make truth. Evidence makes truth. And belief does not make evidence." That kind of rotor wear is caused by wearing the pads down to the backing plates and then continuing to drive on them. It doesn't matter if you have race pads or cheap crap from pep-boys. RobY
cast iron melts at about 1100 degrees! Only if you are european... If you are american it melts at about 2200 degrees

Well, that would be true, if you could buy composite ceramic rotors or carbon rotors at Pep boys. But since you can't buy them at Pep boys, and GT2 cars use composite ceramic rotors, are you sure that you know what you are talking about? "Belief does not make truth. Evidence makes truth. PhilT
That is completely metal on metal wear, no matter how cold the brakes are that's what you get when you have no friction material left. Double Award Winning Legacy GT Wagon

All I can say is that I have scored brakes using track pads on regular brakes, albeit not as bad as those shown is the pic. "Belief does not make truth. Evidence makes truth. sirsimon
Yeah, I considered buying Ferodo DS3500 pads when my 2500s wore out, as I've heard that they really require little time to get usably warm (just a stop or two), but they will wear out my (expensive) Alcon rotors like their is no tomorrow. Plenty of them use iron. prototypes and gt1 cars generally have carbon brakes though. I think my point was something else.
