Hello everybody!!

Great forum! Greatest advices!! I really found a lot of prescious information here. I already cleaned my headlights and changed the heater bulbs =) thanks to you.

I recently purchased my second Subaru - a 96 Legacy LS. Mechanically the car was ok, I also changed timing belt, water pump and some kind of transmission gasket as my mechanic said that was leaking a lot. Wires, spark plugs, battery and other minor repairs were made not long time ago by a previous owner. That's why I was really happy to find such a car for that price - in fact around 2k including repairs after purchase.

But there still is a big issue of rust the car has. I believe the owner sold it that cheap because of this and I thought I would be able to do the body work in a future, maybe till winter. I did not see all the spots when I bought the car. Don't ask why, I was kinda blind back then. ))

Anyhow, here are some pictures. Does anybody know what to do? I'm almost desparate about it now.. The rust seems to be too deep.

1. Passenger's door - seems to be rusted from inside!! I suppose water went from window through untight rubber holders to the inside. Any ideas how to fix and is it possible to fix at all?

2. Passenger's side rear door. Not so noticeable from outside but once you open the door...

3. Above windsheald and rear window the roof is somewhat horrible... How is that possible? Is it cureable?

4. Above wheel wells. On passenger's side it's still under the paint, on the driver's side it looks worse..

If you guys have any ideas how and whether I can fix those moments, that would be really great. Otherwise the car is awesome. I'm just afraid that these places of rust will grow and in a year or two the car will be a junk..

Here is a picture of the whole car -- I just want to show you, it's not terrible, it does look decent regardless the spots I accented at. =)

Thanks everyone.

Rust never sleeps and that isn't going to fix itself.

The only way to fix it is to do the body work, which isn't going to be cheap and will probably cost more than the car is worth. Otherwise you can drive it until it falls apart ;)

That's what I was mostly afraid of... I do want to keep it for longer than a year. Being realistic, I don't know what will be with the car in that period but to get rid of a car because of its rustiness is probably most terrible that could happen to it (and me too..).
