AKLGT
pretty much the same case on the new 08's. gearing is different and of course, DCCD. Wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle yeah!!!
Long Island Legacy
Are the spec b. 50:50 Torque split?
chenc544
Are the spec b. 50:50 Torque split? IIRC all Legacy MT are 50/50.
whitetiger
spec b 6mt=STI 6mt minus dccd and front LSD. DCCD is ok, but the front LSD is what really give the sti an edge.
Metal2You
The STi tranny is geared for more acceleration and less top speed? If you want near stock LGT gearing with a front LSD you need to look at options other than OEM? Am I on track here?
korpsepatrol
would it be possible to just buy like a cusco lsd for the front and add it on? Or is that a stupid question? 2008 6mt Legacy Gt Spec B DGM - Not so Stock/Work in progress 2006 5mt Legacy Gt OBP - Sold 2005 5eat Legacy Gt OBP - RIP R.I.P Coxx
Metal2You
That is the kind of thing I'm wondering. I might want to go 6MT at some point, but I'd probably want it geared like the SpecB with front LSD and DCCD.
CTATV
if my 5speed shits the bed on me ill be going to the 6spd most likely. 06 spec b with the 6 speed and no SI-Drive would be hawt....
Metal2You
Yeah, I don't like the idea of SI Drive either. I don't like the fact that the ECU "learns" how I "want" to drive each day and changes shit according to that. Worst idea ever.
CTATV
yeah agreed. personally i like the red leather better than the suede inserts also... and i like the rims. pretty much i cream myself every time i look at my own car... http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh39/fiidgett2/IMG_2592.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh39/fiidgett2/IMG_2598.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh39/fiidgett2/IMG_2599.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh39/fiidgett2/IMG_2600.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh39/fiidgett2/IMG_2607.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh39/fiidgett2/SM029.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh39/fiidgett2/SM025.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh39/fiidgett2/SM019.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh39/fiidgett2/SM014.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh39/fiidgett2/SM010.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh39/fiidgett2/0b3c3495.jpg
Long Island Legacy
Rallispec has a unit for the 5 speed as well. http://www.rallispec.com/prod_diff.htm
DrCloud
For me, one of the critical differences between the LGT.B and STI 6MTs is the spacing of the gears, particularly the 4-5 transition. It's compatible with the other shifts on the LGT.B version while there's a weird jump in spacing on the STI version. This was true on my 05 STi, and they've overcompensated and made it worse on the new 08s. And, I gotta say, I really loved the DCCD on my STi, especially in winter. A great feature. AKLGT
I love my 08 STI with the SI drive. If I want to make sure I keep it out of boost, I leave it on I. I had Jarrad tune the maps for S and S# as well. Compared to our 07 STI, it's much more smooth, all the way thru the power curve, but I can feel the power drop more up top vs the 07. Wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle yeah!!!
Rushin
so is it possible to put dccd on an 08 spec.b?

Guest
Big differences are: - no DCCD - no FRONT LSD Also 04-07 STI tranny has oil pump, SpecB's doesn't (neither 08 STI has one, AFAIK) As far as gearing. 1-4 are the same as on 07 STI (wider spacing than 04-06 STI). 5-6 are taller than 07 STI. Gator GT
I've got an OEM 06 STI front LSD (helical) in my 6MT....love it love it love it! camber
^^^ What's the biggest difference with the front HLSD?
SpecBee
I thought that the B tranny was missing some of the syncros that the STI had. Like it only had 1st and 2nd syncros or sumthin like that? Anyone know for sure?
dbrunone
In terms of gearing.... 07 STI has taller 2nd and 3rd than 04-06 STI Spec.B has 07 STI gearing, plus taller 5th and 6th Not sure about the 08 STI gearing. All of the STI/Spec.B transmissions are built the same, and can handle the same amount of power. Of course, no DCCD or front LSD on Spec.B's. SpecBee
I think that gears 1 & 3 have doulbe syncros and 2nd has tripple syncros.
Gator GT
^^^ What's the biggest difference with the front HLSD? Corners, obviously. It pretty much damn near throws you out of the corner when on the gas! I have to get wider (225) summer tires to take advantage of this thing even more!
