FoxHound
what is the best way to get rid of salt that is caked onto the carpet? i have tried cleaner, scrubing, even just soaking it with water and it is just stuck there next to the pedals
pillboy
I use multiple applications of hot water with a spray bottle and suck out the water with a wet/dry vac between applications. It is still ugly.
fweasel
I use hot water and a rag to blot it out. ignore him, he'll go away.

CapnJack
I have the all weather floormats in my Legacy and I still got the salt problem. I used a combination of things to get it out. First I applied some automotive carpet cleaner and let it sit for five minutes. Then I brushed it with a nylon hand scrub brush. Then I sprayed some water on it(spray bottle) and let it soak for a good ten minutes. Repeat brush and suck dry with a wet/dry vac.
pillboy
Water dissolves salt. Vacuum sucks water. Done. How much easier can it be? It is still ugly.

fweasel
huh? Wait, you're getting the salt problem underneath your all-weather mats? How? Because likely he's using the OEM ones which don't hold crap and leak/spill quite easily. ignore him, he'll go away.
