oog61
When I changed my oil last week, the oil cap gasket remained stuck on the filler neck when I removed the cap. I peeled it off and then dropped it. I noticed that one side of the gasket is flat and the other is rounded. I'm not sure which side is supposed to go against the filler neck. The filler neck is flat so it seems like the flat side of the gasket should go against it, but if that is the case, why is the other side rounded? The inside of the cap where the gasket goes is also flat. Thanks.
rao
The rounded part goes down toward the motor; it helps to make a better seal Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT

pillboy
Mine did that once too. I was like WTF? NEVER have had that happen in 32 years of changing my own oil. However I did know which "side" went down. It is still ugly.
