Tragedy strikes, my oil looked like a milkshake when I drained it last night, minimum of head gasket gone out, didn't see any metal flakes on the plug, but time will tell if I have a cracked ringland, or other engine damage. I'm working on getting estimates for replacing the headgaskets and for upgrading internals. I will get the pressure test/leakdown done when I get my car towed to the shop. collegemt Posted September 17, 2008 Share Posted September 17, 2008 well, my legacy tranny started making noise after bandimere last week. I guess my dad was a little too rough on the launch. It makes a whinning noise in first gear only, not real loud but noticable. I took it to burt subaru today, we will see what happens. collegemt Posted September 18, 2008 Share Posted September 18, 2008 Burt subaru told me it is definetly the transmission. They are going to tear into it tomorrow and diagnose the problem. They are not sure if it will be covered under warranty or not, I will find that out tommorrow. From the looks of it, the legacy won't be making it to the meet, dang. bskey: If it is not covered under warranty, I might look for a used SI 6 speed, since it will be about the same cost as a rebuilt 5 speed.
