Adjusting Exhaust

Recommended Posts

I recently installed my HKS Silent Hi-Power catback exhaust on my car and the right muffler is hanging lower than the left.

How do I go about adjusting it so I can get it to even out? What is the best way to approach this? I also have ralliTek poly exhaust hangers.

Thanks in advance!

Sorry for the crappy pics, I tried resizing them but for some reason it didn't work. Had to take them fast. Freaking blizzard outside. I actually think that I should raise the passenger side can up....let me know your thoughts and how to go about doing this.

Bump....

Do I just loosen the bolts where the passenger side muffler connects to the y pipe and take the muffler and try to push it upwards to match the driver's side muffler? I mean the y-pipe is looking pretty level, and where the muffler and y-pipe bolt together, that looks pretty even. Why am I having this **** eyed look?

What I did on my SPT was to loosen all the bolts from the DP back just a little and then start at the muffler to Y-pipe connections and hold the mufflers exactly where you want them to be and tighten the y-pipe bolts making sure any flex/movement went into the y-pipe; then work forward tightening as you go. It is much easier with two people. One to hold mufflers and one to turn the wrench. If that doesn't do it; it sounds like a bigger hammer or torch will be the solution.

That's probably where I went wrong...I installed the exhaust from the downpipe back to the mufflers lastly. Thanks for the advice guys.

Use big zip-ties to help the hanger!!!! It works!!

+1

I got mine to hang pretty straight, but still needed one big zip tie to hold the passenger side up a hair and keep it centered. I think I twisted a little bailing wire around that hanger too so the zip tie wouldn't break.
