Subaru Model Matrix

Recommended Posts

Now, now...let's not be too harsh on SOA.

I'm thinking of something along more practical lines as is visible on TOV (Temple of VTEC, for those not in the know). Something like upcoming upgrades to current model lines. Things like SI-DRIVE, which both the new F-XT and Tribeca are certainly due to get in the near future. Possibly even the rumored TurboDiesel for the US market.

It'll also make for an excellent pre-purchase research tool.

yeah.. so we can put

2015: HIDs

HIDs are mostly BS.

2020: DSG auto

2025: Twin scroll H6

Diesel will be the order of the day.

If Subaru sticks to its vision of having the superior all weather car, it will always be competitive.

In all seriousness I think that Subaru should start importing some of its more "base" models from Europe like the 2.0L equiped Legacy to better deal with the eventually mpg standards. 5EAT standard across the model lines and development of a 6DSG-type auto. For top/sportier models like Spec-B, XT... they should just transplant the STi powertrain... the only way Subaru is going to cut costs is if they simplify their powertrains.

Thus the future powertrain selections should look like this:

1) 5EAT/2.0L (Impreza/Legacy)

2) 5MT/2.0L (Impreza/Legacy)

3) 5EAT/Diesel (Legacy/Outback/Forester)

4) 5MT/Diesel (Legacy/Outback/Forester)

5) 6DSG/H6 (Legacy/Outback/Forester/Tribeca)

6) 6MT/H6 (Legacy/Outback/Forester/Tribeca)

7) 6DSG/STi (Legacy/Forester/WRX)

8) 6MT/STi (Legacy/Forester/WRX)

If they can simplify things and just swap them in to each model they can reduce production costs and still be profitable.

That means Death to 2.5L and 2.5L Turbos or they can develop (mild tunes of the STi system).

You're missing the point ;)

Such is the orthodoxy around here.

You, sir, are missing the point. These cars offer huge bang for the buck as is and will continue to offer same if Subaru philosophy is maintained.

Diesel is the future and Subie has an interesting product in the works. Transient forms of gasoline engines are a waste of time.

^^ again... YOU MISSED THE POINT

Very few people are buying this car, and a lack of competitive options has a good deal to do with it.

I see a lot of Subies 'round these parts. Not so many LGTs but a fair number of Legacys, Outbacks, Foresters and plenty of Imprezas.

We are talking about LGTs, not outbacks, foresters or imprezas..
