Boostjunkie
I got mine here: http://www.rallylights.com/hella/9005.asp#9011 $29.75ea. They are bright, but I'm not really sure why I bought them since I hardly ever use my high beams. I guess just for giggles since nothing in my headlight cluster is stock anymore between the HID low beams, DDE Angel eyes, cleared corners and LED turn signal bulbs. PGT
same bulbs?? I really like rallylights.com - they are top notch to deal with. I have a set of brand new Micro DE's sitting in my garage. Need to fool with installing them.
LotusSeven
HIR = $$$, post your deals! drewster
drewster, No, The low beams seem OK for my usual suburban driving, but I have discussed this with Bill Fox. There are HIR options that can be adapted to the projector low beams and Bill has some feedback from people who have done it on BMW's with apparently very good results. I'm sure he'd be happy to have someone try this on a Legacy. I did email him about any HIR/H7 applications but he said nothing in the works, at least nothing that he is working on. I also received the bulbs today and got the tabs clipped and filed down in a couple minutes. I'll report back as to what i think....
PGT
got mine in today and banged out the 'mod' with a Dremel in about 30 seconds for both sides. Popped the old bulbs out and the new ones in place in less than five minutes. Would have been less but it was dark and rainy First impression form shooting them on the garage door is that the focal point is b0rked. I'll withold judgment until I get to try them on the road though...
harrydog
Since the filament burns brighter and hotter, I wonder if these will have a shorter lifespan? They sound really tempting but I wouldn't want to bother with them if they burn out frequently.
PGT
I wouldn't worry about that - they are hi-beams. You use them like 2% of the time you are driving.

I'll withold judgment until I get to try them on the road though...What's your feeling on the pattern? I've still only driven and tested the high beams in the city and haven't drawn any conclusion as to the beam pattern being better or worse. I do "see" that it is brighter and that I'm getting a "hotspot" directly to my right if i glance to where the right A-pillar is on my car. It's slightly annoying because that area is in darkness and i have this hot spot that catches my eye. I might try just swapping the left and right bulbs to see if that does anything, or maybe it's just the way our headlight housing is shaped and causing the hotspot to be reflected. PGT
I agree about the throw to the side.....distracting. I haven't gotten to use them on a dark back road yet. I might try to venture out tonight and take the car down a dirt road around here that is pitch black.....should be a good test of how they work in our reflector setup. RockyMtnGT
I've been following this thread because I just got "Xenon" 9005's (similar to PIAA's etc) I'm really happy with mine, but I can only say they are a whiter light but not necessarily brighter by any significant amount. So what are your impressions so far with the IR's? Any pics? Thanks, Al
chiz45
I got a set of 9012s and 9011s from Bill Fox thru the Land Cruiser board group buy (www.ih8mud.com), FAST shipping on these Toshiba bulbs. VERY noticeable change on both low and regular in the 'cruiser, but that truck's bulbs were not new.
LGT Chris
Got mine installed Wednesday. rallylights.com marks the part to trim off on their bulbs with some white paint. Took about 10 minutes. Seems much brighter than stock. The new moon, mountain road test will really tell. 2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Luxomissle waGONE

cschneider
I just put my HIRs in last month and was very impressed with the light output. It was a significant improvement over stock. The comments are correct that they do throw out a weird beam to the sides but it's just unusual and I can think of reasons why it might be good. The only problem I have is that color temp of these bulbs is a great match for stock but bad for the HIDs that I just put in on Friday. I think I might be trying the Xtec match bulbs instead and possibly selling my HIRs.

amason
i hope you don't get blind taking the pics....BUT POST PICS! XD Well, it's really hard to get a good impression from pictures, but here's the link the original poster posted near the beginning of the thread: http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3122 I haven't seen them, but I doubt they'd be enough to persuade me to buy them. What did convince me was LotusSeven's measurements on page 2 of this thread, and some of the stuff on a link he posted: http://www.finemotoring.com/ and http://www.finemotoring.com/demo.htm On page 3 of this thread, in response to a question about pictures, you'll find this response: http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7814 I suspect that a search for "HIR pictures" would have brought these two threads up. I can't comment on mine yet, I haven't had the occasion to test them yet. Btw, the install took a grand total of 5 minutes. I ordered from Bill at FineMotoring, and was thrilled to bits with the service. Andy
