Carter Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Just curious, when I have my heater on feet I get major heat out the far left and right vents and very little on the feet. My feet get cold! How do yours work?

How do yours work? same. i close the left one to get more heat on my feet. History does not entrust the care of freedom to the weak or timid People sleep peacefully at night cause rough men stand ready to do violence on there behalf
Carter Posted February 1, 2008 Author Posted February 1, 2008 I don't want to say its a problem because its normal for heat to come out the side vents, but when you put it on feet only it should put the majority on your feet.
PeterJMC Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Not much air comes through my feet vents even when I set them to direct to my feet.
GTTuner Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 +1 here. It is adequate though, as long as I set the blower on high. The heated seat kick in after a but and keeps me comfy.
chopps Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 ^ same here... burning shins and frozen feet. -J
zimbonies Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I've noticed it on the last 3 subies I've owned. 2000 Impreza, 05 LGT and 08 2.5i - my feet freeze, but my shins get warm. I honestly think that Subaru does this because you don't really want your feet to "boil", however it would be nice to get a little more air towards the pedals. turning off the vents don't do much either...
SuperCleanLGT Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I observed the same issue w/ my LGTL. I noticed that instead of having one small foot vent like most cars we have a thin wide vent the width of the footwell. You are right it does not warm the feet too well but it definitely spreads the temp out better.
Voytech Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Same issue here... well not an issue. I guess that's the design of the vent. I miss my old car though. Nice and toasty toes. I'll get in there during this weekend and see if a simple modification of the vent will be feasible.
baruGT Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I don't think I've ever been like.."hmm..my feet/toes are cold"..maybe its cuz I live in ATL...? What is outside temp when you guys experience this cold feet toe phenomenon
subieboyLGT05 Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 My WRX that i had and the Outback i had both would give me the warm toasty feet but my lgt doesn't. Sometimes i just wanna ride around w/ my windows down and the heat on my feet.
ehsnils Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I haven't had any real issue with keeping my feet warm, but on the other hand I'm not the person that's getting cold feet very easily. On the other hand I have noted that the windshield defroster has better effect on the right side than on the left. I have noticed this on other Subaru models too so it's not unique to the Legacy. I assume that this is either due to the fact that the fan is on the right side or that these cars are manufactured in Japan where the driver is located on the right side. Maybe someone with a RHD Subaru can verify or dismiss the RHD/LHD theory? Or is the fan on the right side on these cars too?
outahere Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Just curious, when I have my heater on feet I get major heat out the far left and right vents and very little on the feet. My feet get cold! How do yours work? Yeah, my toes get frozen, especially on a day like today, that topped out at only 10 degF! May need to get electric socks that plug into the cigarette lighter socket.
Woodstock Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 I close all the vents left and right, and I wear double socks.
outahere Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 I wonder if someone manufactures a 12V heated floor mat?
aigochamaloh Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 No complaints with my car here. My toes start burning after awhile. But then again, I do only wear slippers.
imboden Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Mine were cold until I did this: -Put on feet/defrost mode -Turn off a/c -Get toasty feet!
fonts Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 No issues here. On a long drive I make sure to wear the proper thing on my feet. Then I typically have to cycle between defrost and defrost/feet so that my legs/feet don't get too warm.
outahere Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 I was going to do a little mod on the vent during the summer to redirect the heat towards the toes, but didn't get around to it. And now it will be below 25 degF for the next week. Oh well, maybe next summer.
Guest PeteAWD Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 They suck, I was wondering if they can be modified.
AkumaMax Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 I don't know about the rest of you but I am always cold if it's under 60 outside my feet are cold. I usually put my seat heater on and put the climate to 85 on feet only(rarely ever use the positions). I had noticed that it was a little weak on the feet. Once I closed both of my side vents though it gave me more on my feet. Also if it's not blowing enough I can press the recirculation button and that gives me a boost. Usually I keep my temp at 85 on feet about 2-3 fans then if it gets hot I just turn it to 75 but keep the same amount of fans.
NewLegacyOwner Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 I've had no issues with the feet heater...of course I live in Texas and it's not cold very often.
