New Mazda Speed 3 concepts...

Recommended Posts

MEH.. what crowd are they trying to appeal to? those who drive fast or those who are like LOOK AT ME IM SPEEDING WHILE SITTING STILL!!!1!!1ONE

it reminds me of the 350Z nismo, its the same car cept its uglied from the factory. Current MS3 looks good, a few sporty additions but nothing over the top, I'd prefer sedan but thats just me, I'm a sedan guy.

now take the current ms3, put a bit higher quality build materials in it and make it AWD.. w/o a price change.. and I'm listening

Hatch looks cool.

This just hits my point again... If you like 5-door hatchbacks, this is how they should look. (A3 is another good example) The 3 sedan is also very nice looking, too; and worlds better than the new impreza 4-door.

If subaru had mazda styling, this would be a HIT as a WRX STI with the STI drivetrain and turbo boxer.

If Mazda had real turbo power (300+), and real AWD (not just the MS6's haldex), this would be the final nail in the STI's coffin, looking like it currently does.

Mazda and Subaru just need to merge. Subaru can do the powertrains and the utility/practical vehicles, and piston engines (maybe even bring some more engineering expertise into the rotary) and mazda can do the styling and sporty handling and help freshen the interior as well as the exterior, and amenities.

Screw FoMoCo, and Toyota's stake in FHI. Just merge Mazda with Subaru. Call it Mazdabaru, or Subazda.

This sedan is actually the slick new 6, a 5-door sedan. Legacy can take notes from this car, with a Subie drivetrain, this would be my next car.

With the recent rumors of an RX9 replacement for the RX8, resembling a slightly longer Kabura concept, they might rule the 3-door fastback coupe market, too. Legacy could have done that by spawning a chassis-shared SVX replacement with a fastback hatch, with turbo 4, or flat 6 power, and STI equipment.

Here's the rumored coupe (completely unverified, but somewhat plausible)

IF they were to build that, it would be a question whether the Miata or the Legacy would lose a garage space to a coupe with the best qualities of both cars. Between Mazda and Subaru, the first one to market with a great sport coupe is the winner of my next purchase, and garage space. I don't think I am lucky enough to have it be a cross-breed of both.
