voyetra8
Hey folks, I've been lurking for a few weeks, and pick up my regal blue LGT WGN LTD tomorrow. Woohoo! I'm looking forward to taking some pics and posting them as soon as I get a chance. Anyway, I ordered the dealer added auto-dim/compass/maplight rearview mirror and have been quoted "2 hours labor" for the install. Does this seem remotely reasonable to anyone? (I'm just trying to gauge whether I should take my car there for service when I need it....) While we're on the topic- how long do you reckon it would take to throw the standard roof rack on? BoxerGT2.5
Sounds about right. They have to wire the thing in....ala rip the head liner down. It's not just a simple swap. OBAMA......One Big Ass Mistake America!
rao
The mirror sholdn't take more than an hour and 30 minutes is more like it. The roof rails are already there so adding the bars should take no time at all. Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT
dv8ingvector
WHAT! that is BS...i have done it! if it take them more then 20min they are retarded just install it yourself the car is wired for it you just need a philips screw driver to remove the map lights and a allen wrench to take the mirror off. the only tricky part will be the 2.5 seconds you are fishing the wire through the 6in of head liner to the plug and click and you are done. the roof rack i cant help you with but i think there are a few guys on the fourm with em, i am sure they will chime in

Nah, the wires are already there -- they just remove the map light overhead console to get at them. No need to pull the headliner out. It's a 15-20 minute job tops. voyetra8
Unfortunately, it's too late for me to do anything, because I signed the purchase contract earlier today... I thought I was dealing with a reputable dealer too. Bummer.
dv8ingvector
aww that sux...but i guess if i were the dealership i would have to add the time for the paper work the goofing off between jobs i mean it is such a small thing that they would not make any money installing stuff like that if they didn't pad it...but now you know! and knowing is half the battle...
