7th Annual Subaru 48hrs of Tristate Charity Run 2008

That's right folks, it's that time of the year again, when we all break out of the winter blues of no car shows, no auto-x, no road racing, no drag strips and head out on the open highway for a good cause. This is the 7th Annual running where a group of Subaru enthusiasts from all over the TriState area take a 3 day long trip covering about 48hrs of driving overall from the sand down in the Pine Barrens of NJ to the wintery snow of the Adirondacks.

This year we are planning on about 900 miles of highways, backroads and no roads with dinners and partys every night. We also will be visiting SOA headquarters in Cherry Hill, NJ. Last year we raised over $6,000 for the American Cancer Society from pledges that the participants gathered! Our goal this year is to raise over $7,000 for ACS.

The trip will start with a dinner kickoff in Cherry Hill, NJ on Thurs Night Jan 31, 2008. We will continue on Friday morning with a visit to Subaru of America Headquarters and then the drive will take our Subies through the sandy Pine Barrens of NJ and then up through Northern NJ and on to Cooperstown, NY.

From there, we'll continue on backroads through the Adirondacks on Saturday with a Catered Dinner Party in Lake George, NY. Sunday will be a liesurely drive from the Adirondacks toward Newburgh, NY.

All kinds of Subies are welcome on this trip. We've had XT6s, GLs, DLs, Legacies, Brats, you name it!Several companies also have provided us with door prizes for those participating! In past years we've had $100s and $100s worth of door prizes!

The important info:

What: Group drive to raise money for ACS and have a fun 900+ mile trip along the way.

Where: Starts in Cherry Hill, NJ and continues throughout NJ and NY with stops to Cooperstown, NY the Adirondacks, Lake George and New Paltz, NY

When: Jan 31- Feb 3, 2008

Latest 48hrs of Tristate Info

Just wanted to checkin with an update on the progress of the 7th Annual 48hrs of Tristate. This year we really got our act together and have T-shirts for sale before hand and we also have a HUGE amount of prizes for the raffle. We changed the way the raffle works this year. You can purchase tickets online to win the prizes even if you aren't able to make it. 100% of the raffle sales goes to The American Cancer Society. Our goal this year is to reach $7,000 in donations.

We also will be having a kickoff reception at SOA on Friday Feb 1, with an intimate walkaround of the 2008 STi and a meet and greet with some of the upper management.

So far we have 30+ cars registered and it looks to be the biggest and best 48hrs ever! Come and support a great cause and have fun too.

drive at speed limit or cannon ball style?

my car doesn't go 45-75 mph...

usually pretty close to the speed limit. More important than speed is the quality of your tires as we are hoping to hit some snowy back roads on the trip.

With 32+ cars we'll be going at a very reasonable rate. No cannonball speeds, well at least not for the main group, sometimes people get ahead of me .

it's tough for us working folk to have something start on a Thursday :(

Well if you read through the site, you'll see that you can jump in whenever and out whenever, depending on your schedule.

Thurs Night is just a meet and greet, nothing really big going on that night too crazy.

Friday we are going to SOA, hard to go visit them on Saturday since they are M-F Company.

A large majority of the group starts Friday evening at dinner or later at the hotel and runs through til Sunday, so that's basically a regular weekend.

Do I need register or anything if I just want to show up Friday morning for the Cherry Hill Subaru HQ thing? I might stay for a little longer and drive around with the convoy but... <shrug>

VERY IMPORTANT, if you are planning on coming to SOA, you have to meet us at the Holiday Inn at 8:30am, SOA won't let you in unless you come with the caravan.

I'll be there in the morning at the Holiday Inn for the convoy to SOA but then I'm leaving the pack after they roll through the Pine Barrens and head towards the GSP. I don't wanna get far away from Central Jersey. Still have things to do at night.

More people should have come. I left early but at least went for the SOA HQ part down in Cherry Hill. We had a chance to talk with some of the production leads for the different models. And... the guy in charge of the Legacy/Tribeca came out with a test '08 Spec B in Red.

Fun times, but chilly and went.
