fweasel
I don't own this exhaust, but I did install one for a local memeber recently and don't remember his mid-pipe/y-pipe joint sitting so far away from the factory heat sheilding. Is it possible that the midpipe is install incorrectly... backwards, upside down, both? That might explain what looks to be such a low point in the system. ignore him, he'll go away. PartyWagon
Did you match the bends in the mid-pipe with the bends in the stock pipe? That would be the most likely cause of this problem. They're almost an exact match in curvature, but since the bends are subtle you need to compare them side-by-side to be sure. Best to lay them on the ground as they'd hang from the car and look down from above. I did this before I re-installed mine. Long story short, my friend who came to help likes to be 'in charge' when women are around and he brought his girlfriend along for the install. Many hours later (1 AM) he went home after frustrating the hell out of me, and my install was still unfinished. I simply took the mid-pipe off, flipped it around and the rest went back on in 15 minutes. Easy as cake. I might go grab my stock exhaust from behind the house and take a pic for ya to compare the bends, that is if I feel better before it gets too late. Darn flu shot making me sick....ugh Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot. .../PartyWagon/...

PartyWagon
I no longer have the stock pipe to compare to. :-/ OK, I'll go bundle up to take some pictures...mine is still attached to the Y-pipe so I know which way it should go. PartyWagon
The first pic is looking at the front-most flange in the stock CBE. This is the part I used to determine which end of the mid-pipe faced forward and how to rotate it. Note that the sharper of the bends is on the front of the XO2 midpipe and mimicks the stock piece. The second pic is a side view from the driver's side, showing the bend in a different angle. The third pic is a top-down view while standing on/looking down from the passenger's side. Match these bends on that pipe and it should fit fine. If not you should contact XO2 about the problem, maybe you've got a defective mid-pipe. Also, did you modify anything during the installation process? Didn't you get help from a friend at a repair shop? Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot. .../PartyWagon/... whobaru
Mine was a lot closer than that to the driveline. I bet your MP is backwards. I had to really thinkg about it too. I got lucky and got it right on the first try. That pic is from someone else's install btw.

Aodhan
http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x312/kagenmateer/Picture014.jpg Thank you very much for posting that picture. Right off the bat I can say that the "short" end of my midpipe is about 6 inches from flange to the resonator, that right there could be my problem. I will crawl under the car today and snap some photos before and after i see what i can do to fix the clearance issues. To all of you that have offered advice and opinions thank you! I will keep you all posted as to what happens when I get off work.
Aodhan
The exhaust shops said it was very bad fitment and it does not line up from the downpipe back to and including the Y pipe. Very annoyed at this as one can imagine. Not sure what I am going to do yet.
Infamous1
Didn't read through all the post but the mid pipe is installed backwards, that is why the shop would claim the fitment is bad. The mid and Y fitment is alright just the cans are off when installed properly.
qikslvr
From looking at the pictures closely; it looks like it the mid-pipe is probably backwards as other have said or it's rotated 180 degrees off. With the mufflers hitting the bumper like that; you can tell that the bend at the short end of the MP is upside down for sure and either rotating it 180 or flipping it end to end (if needed) should correct the direction of the bend and raise the pipe enough to level out your mufflers and give you more ground clearance. We have all had to make some "minor" adjustments after a new catback is installed. As for the downpipe, it should be slightly adjustable left to right while the Turbo->DP bolts are backed off a turn or two. The key to getting the exhuast installed properly is hang it, put all the bolts on fairly loose and hold each peice exactly where you want it to be while the bolts are being tightened starting at the mufflers and working forward. Good luck. Let's kick this pig!
Aodhan
I have tried the mid pipe every way. The pipe does not fit what so ever. When its reversed it hits the drive train. I will post pictures once my friend emails them to me. I know everyone is having to do minor fixes but what would be required by me to get it to fit right is to cut it apart, change some of the bends and re wield the flanges. My guess is that the jig got bent in some way and threw mine and maybe a few others off.
