Help me pick some HID's

because they are junk IMHO. I had an ebay kit once. they were 6000K. After about a year, the bubs blue-shifted so much that the were useless. then i bought the xenondepot 4300K kit with thte slim balasts, and they have been great for the last 2 years and are still as bright as ever. Im not saying that all ebay and discount kits are crap as many people on this sight have them and are happy. I just saying that you are taking a chance buy not buying a quality kit, and you may find that you will have to replace them in the future.

Btw, my banzai kit just crapped out about a week ago :spin: I'm debating if I should get a kit from vvme (another cheapo) or if I should get the XTreme Kit from xenondepot.com any insight? Warranty is how long on the XTreme Kit..

hm.. i assume no warranty?

you can get lifetime warranty of Taiwan kits with bulbs that color shift within 6 months, get busted in a year, and flickers once in a while. I used one of those before I did my OEM set-up and it was a pain. I haven't had any problems with my current one and the color remains OEM.

Holy thread resurrection batman.

Whitetiger...you still have your HID's from Xenondepot?

I've been looking at getting some...$199, plus I have a coupon ;)

Anyway, good reviews from the Honda crowd.

^ should be fairly easy as most AM hids use amp connectors

my suggestion, althought a costly one, but produces a far better result than all hid kits

go retro:

Rx330 non afs bowls

celica clear lenses

denso slim ballasts

phillips or osram bulbs

everything will run you about $300 but well worth the upgrade

Current:MY05 SWP wagon - 253/290  UP, AEM CAI, Invidia Q300, tuned@yimisport

OLD: MY06 GRP - 274/314

Very happy with 4300K set-up in my other car. If I choose to go full retro in to LGT, I'll go with that same temp.

I just ordered my VVME kit yesterday. I already have the RX330 Non-AFS projectors to do the swap. Paid $93 shipped for 5000k (+$15) and D2S bulbs (+$15). If you were just going to get a replacement kit for the H7's it would be cheaper. I may go for an H3 kit from them in the future.

They are also located in Delaware, and have a 14month warranty on the bulbs/ballasts. Good enough for me. For that price, the HIDs will make up for the 3 sets of halogens I've already gone through in less than a year. 1 set of stockers, 1 set of silverstars and 1 set of cheap autozone bulbs.

Ah the eternal debate about HID's.

Well honestly its a personal decision based on how risk adverse you are. The people who are not willing to take risks will shell out the $200+ for a high quality HID kit (like Xtreme) or even a retrofit. The people who are more adverse may opt for a Volt kit, DDM, or some other $120-$180 kit. Then people who want to save money may buy a $50 kit from ebay and call it a day.

Then again of course, you have people posting on threads complaining about how their $50 kits caught on fire, or people complaining about their DDM kits crapping out (haven't heard anything about VOlt/Xtreme kits going bad at all...) and I guess that's a testament that you pretty much get what you paid for, on average.
