LandShark
Driving along on my lunchhour jamming to ZZ Top CD. Not really trying to run fast but seems to happen subconsciencely with the zip this car has. Rolling along in 2nd gear and suddenly felt that damn shuddering above 6-grand rpm.!! Was blasting "Cheap Sunglasses" too loud to hear the engine running hard. Up the 3rd gear and merrily on my way. :D Made me wonder how often other LGT drivers bump into the rev limiter - whether they mean to or not. Thought I'd start a poll just to see what the responses are. Should the first response be spelled "wus", or "woose", or "wuss"? Need a damn spell checker! canis
It should be how often moreso than how many total times. And it's "wuss." :-)
chucktoo
When we reflashed we moved it out to 7500 rpms , no longer a probelm.
LandShark
Hey Chucktoo, Are you saying that with the upgrades you've made it's now "safe" to run up to 7,500 rpm? Or that you just moved the electronic cutoff point and hope to keep it out of the red-zone with proper driving ettiquete? Need that damn spell checker again....it is etiquete, or ettiqete, or ettikit, or edikit, or.....
liquidiq
Cobb runs the 2.0l to 7250 on their Stage 2 package. I can't see why not we can't run at least the same ;)
BoxerGT2.5
I like the (drive it like an Rx-8). Oh man if this car could hit 9k rpm. I'd cream in my pants. OBAMA......One Big Ass Mistake America!
theJrod
Does the rev limiter feel any different than any other car? I've hit the limiter in my 'Rex so many times - I lose count on a daily basis...
Deer Killer
When we reflashed we moved it out to 7500 rpms , no longer a probelm.
yeah now it just goes *pop* instead of bumping off the redline ;)
Komeng
Why not, the engine can take it...used to do this with the NERD cd playing, but more lately the Car Wash song from Missy... My car has the fuel cut speed limiter at just above 180km/h (JDM) and its so easy to get there in no time. This one's smooth though, compared to the slight jerk experienced in my previous WRX JDM fuel-cut.
SUBE555
For AutoX, the rev limiter gets used a bit more, rarely hit it on the street, but I'm usually running the revs up near every time I get the car out. :D

squirrel-bait
I'm still learning to not bounce it off the limiter when I accelerate hard from a stop. First gear is so short, you have to shift into second before you've gone three car-lengths. sqrl b8
kanoswrx
Im to used to my WRX's 7k rpm limit, so I have hit it a few times. Really wish subaru would have just left the redline at 7k, maybe the ecu tuners will put this in.
melayout
Yeah, Subaru engineers are stupid for reducing the redline to 6500 rpm. As the car weight and engine displacement increase, the redline has to increase too. Why did they miss such a crucial engineering concept, it is so obvious? IwannaSportSedan
I thought there was a valve spring difference, and thus possibly a valve "float" issue with the Legacy engine, as opposed to the STI. Maybe I am wrong, or maybe it isn't a big deal.
agctr
Have to admit Ive bounced a few times in the first 3 gears, havent managed to get the other to yet, YET. Adam.
