MangoGT
No I get the point. I just think its stupid. I think this thread would be a lot better if you posted something about riding (with) your mom in her RX400h. Either that, or some other completely unrelated comment about a Lexus. PhilT
I have had some pretty lousy averages. I think my worst was about 14.2mpg. Now if you want to talk about burning fuel I have burned it up at the rate of about 9-12 gallons per mile. I did it again last night. 238.0 miles and we burned up 3.1 gallons per mile average between two locomotives. 737.8 gallons into the combustion chambers. Well if we're comparing fuel consumed at work............ The worst I had was 13,150 gallons a day, works out to 45 galls / mile. Pushing 200,000 tons of coal from Australia to the UK, 60 days non stop. Double Award Winning Legacy GT Wagon

A normal diesel electric locomotive is crazy efficient by car standards.

BigInALegacy
Are we talking about trains or cars here? I was getting 22.8mpg on my brake in period. Now I'm at 22.0 ever since I've been driving her a little more playfully.

Black08XT
Not sure if my car is some kind of freak of nature, but I average 25mpg. If I do a lot of highway, I get 27-28mpg. Of course, if I beat on it then it goes down. Are people really getting in the teens for mileage? I used to get that in my V8 4Runner.
BigInALegacy
hmmm... outback too, I'd think it would be heavier = worse gas mileage. Interesting. I do 50/50 city/hwy and I'm getting 22-23 thus far.

Black08XT
Very true, although I am loving the mileage I get now compared to what I used to get. I guess I was just shocked by the original post stating 12-18mpg.

I was getting like 16-18 out of my old 2002 chevy pickup, so I'm loving 22-23 especially when I'm having fun doing it!!!
