Installed the woodgrain!

the wood and tan look awesome. very elegant. do you think the top vents should have it? not sure. i like how the corner vent accents flow to the door woodgrain. my only suggestion is to see if you find a different shiftknob and get the same color woodgrain to match that - to tie it all together. i guess i'll have to wait for more photos, are you (did you) continue the woodgrain into the back?

i think it looks pretty good. if i put that on my car i would go for more of a brown wood to match the taupe color and not put it in the upper black areas. the only problem wood be the steering wheel fake wood. i think you need one of these in you car

The kit includes rear door pieces and two for the back of the armrest cupholder area. I haven't installed my center vent section and ashtray yet since I still haven't finished my touchscreen install. Once that's done I'll see how it looks with the final pieces in place. I'll have a ton of pics when the carputer is finished.
Ahh fake wood, how about some paneling on the outside?
Yes! The Family Truckster! I wish they'd get some cheaper kits. I like the CF, but now that I'm at Stage 2 I really want to save for suspension and brake mods.

If they had the complete replacement panels for the LGT rather than the adhesive stuff I'd pay good money for real burlwood. Maybe I should just bring it over to Waldoch here and have them give it a go (they do phenominal conversion vans). What do you think the charge for the replacement panels would be, $500-800?

They'll custom coat any material you send them for a 100% stock look. However, I believe the door handle trim is a permanant part of the door and wouldn't come off without a good bit of work, not to mention be a huge PITA to reattach well.

A coating isn't going to be the same as cut and formed replacement panels made of wood. I already went and talked to the conversion place I mentioned and they're going to research it for me. One of the guys that works there just bought an LGT this summer and has been thinking the same thing. This place can fab almost anything.

I wasn't aware of any vehicle with solid wood panels, at least since the 1930s. FWIW, my panels are real rosewood, as real as in any Lexus or Mercedes anyway. They're all a thin laminate with a clear coat.

Well the only thing really keeping me from getting the burlwood version of what you got on your car is I'm afraid of the recessed buttons. The real wood overlay adds to the trim around the buttons (on the HU and ACC for example) so that they're recessed as opposed to sticking out. I know it sounds like a really lame thing to fret over for such a great look but that's what I'm hung up on. Maybe if I saw a car with this work done in person I may not think it's so bad. Or maybe it's a good thing so it isn't as easy to bump a button. Got any closeups at an angle to the HU to see how much the buttons stick out?

Wood grain only looks good in the light interior. I'm not a fan of wood trim either but that would change my mind.
