CoSpringsSpecB
$3.59 today at my local shell $50 didn't even get me to a whole 14gallons... :spin::spin:
scottybuckeye
Yeah, a Shell I past here yesterday was at that same price. My normal cheap station was $3.52 and a Conoco was $3.51. Fortunately some of Congress has just begun their case against the oil companies. Who knows whether or not it'll gain us reasonable prices. This ain't friggin Europe! http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/congress-takes-aim-high-gasoline/story.aspx?guid=%7B9D7C7511-B9DE-4247-B4D9-34DC11794DB7%7D Rep. Bart Stupak, a Michigan Democrat who has crafted a bill that would make oil and gas price gouging a federal crime, questioned why gasoline prices soared even as crude oil prices dropped. "In April, ... crude oil was $7 a barrel cheaper than last year, [but] gas prices were almost 50 cents a gallon higher," said Stupak. "Clearly there's more at play than simply the world crude oil market." http://www.baltimoresun.com/business/bal-bz.gasprice17may17,0,4565760.story?coll=bal-business-headlines
praedet
Here in Colorado the problem is not crude, it is the fact that a lot of the refineries that supply us are down

scottybuckeye
Octane seriously makes THAT big a difference in hp? Yeah, no 93 out here man. Plus you'll lose more horses w/ the elevation. Where you moving to specifically? I moved from Ohio 2 years ago. Love eet!
mwiener2
I'm in Boulder for the the summer, then moving to wherever depending on the job I get. Interestingly, I'm getting 22.5mpg around denver and it's still going up. That's with the car still compeletely stuffed with all my crap. Maybe it's not so bad here gas wise. Octane at the pump makes a big difference. The octane booster you buy at the store isn't the same Octane numbers like at the pump. If the can says boosts 3 points...it's like 0.3 compared to pump octane. Effin Ponderous
Jersey property taxes usually keep us about 20 to $0.25 lower than the rest the rest of the country...
chenc544
Thinner air helps some with MPG, especially if you drive a lot of highway miles. Less air density = less drag.

rkl303
I've actually ran on fumes once (not proud, but I figured I'd get over 400 miles before why note again) got home. Next morning try and start the car and it barely moves and idles rough. That day I still did not get to fill over 15 gallons, but I don't fill anymore once the pump has said the car has had enough. I learned that the first time I ever filled up the car. I got gas all over my foot. pillboy
Since this piece ran on our local news, I have started paying closer attention to gas prices. During the past holiday weekend, prices bounced up and down every couple days, 14 to 20 cents. Same day prices would vary up to a dime at stations within a few miles of one another. I knew there was a reason I stayed away from SuperAmerica, but I thought it was just because I didn't like all the traffic there buying lottery tickets and Big Gulps. Eff SA. http://www.kare11.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=254861 It is still ugly.
johnAWD
We can get by with 91 octane vs 93 here at altitude.
