ok, go ahead and tell me how getto they look!

so i was only able to get ONE done today before it got dark out, it took me about 2 hours from start to finish(!), but i think i can do the rest a little faster now that i got my technique down.

first, got a chance to clean my wheel and tire while the brakes cooled and dried after cleaning:

i have to go home and check the brand name, but it was a standard kit (cheaper than buying everything seperate) with the spray cleaner - works awesome, the high temperature paint, the brush, and tape. Most kits will come with that stuff, i bought mine at Pepboys. I made the guy at the store open the can in front of me so i could see what kind of "red" it was. (it looked orange on the box).

it took about three coats, the first one scared me, but after it dried, and more paint went on, it looked 100 times better. gets smooth to the touch and glossy.

The decals i bought from a site referenced on the boards somewhere.

i'll edit this with the brand name when i get it.

Looks nice! Probably Duplicolor .. I used their spray version and it sucked, but I've heard the paintbrush one is good. I've been thinking about picking some up to do mine. Dunno what color would work with ABP though.

just trust me and use a larger brush to start, and the tiny one they give you for the edges. it took FOREVER with the tiny brush that was included in the kit.:spin:

I did this on my eclipse, same color. It came out great, although it began to chip after about a year. I just touched it up and it looked fine. Maybe I didn't clean them well enough, who knows.

Looks good, like it with the decals.

Have you noticed your paint chipping or cracking afterwards? I used a high temp enamel that was recommended on another thread and its starting to chip off...i did sand and clean the calipers first and it still chipped....i was thinking about trying the paint u got now...

i used the greased lightning- that purple spray bottle you see (full strength) on the tires, and cleaned them with a tire brush - 2 times. then i went back with the tire foam, and worked in the first coat with a paper towel, then did a second coat and let them air dry. what you see is the foam drying. works great.

Take some pics again with the car once it's cleaned......

I was always to worried the two different reds wouldn't look right. It doesn't look to bad there.

How did you prep the calipers?? For long paintlife that is where the secret lies;)

Nice job Bosco:):)

Those calipers were def removed for painting......What did you prep them with?

the kit tells you to brush off scale/rust then use supplied brake cleaner (spray) i did mine twice let dry. next mix hardner in paint let sit for 5 minutes paint two coats let dry overnight. finish is very nice and yes i disassembled brakes not hard to do just more time but the finished job looks factory. bosco

Agreed.....

I bead blasted mine & after almost 2 years still look as good as new.

Ceramic Header paint FTW.......$6-8 per can. 1 can is all you will need for 2 coats. Let dry 3-4hrs between coats though;)

i cleaned the calipers with the spray can that came with the duplicolor kit. it is a very pungent alcohol/nail polish remover smelling solvent and dries almost instantly. i used the entire can and scrubbed a couple times until the surface looked like i figured a clean cast piece should look. i had little to no rust anywhere, so if you do, i'd scrub until that was gone.

as for the decals, i got them so long ago, i couldn't re-find them, everyone has asked me. this is the best i can find:
