the_marquis78
I have a Perrin UP for the LGT and was about to install it until I talked to a mechanic who works for the local subaru dealership. He asked if it had the flex point in the middle or if it was just a solid piece. The Perrin UP is one solid piece and he told me that he has installed several of that variety and they have all cracked in the middle. He told me that the only way to go is getting an UP with the flex point in the middle unless I want to waste my money. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Additionally, I know lots of us put on the STi UP on the LGT, what is the form of the STi's UP? Is this guy full of crap or do I have the wrong UP? rao
The Sti uppipe has a flex joint. The guy is not full of crap. Search, this is a hotly debated topic. I would not install an upipe that doesn't have a flex section. Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT

the_marquis78
I actually already have a Cobb DP and the exhaust already done so the UP is just the next step I suppose, thanks for the tip
the_marquis78
last question then, is the STi UP just as good as the ones made specifically for the LGT? Should i save money by getting an STi UP or spend more?
rao
All uppipes that fit the WRX or STi will also fit the Legacy. IMHO you will not find any material performance differences between any uppipes. Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT
Scooter
Here's a very recent thread: http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53042&highlight=flex Seek first to understand, then to be understood. suds2250
I've run a crucial up-pipe (it's solid, no flex) for 10K miles, never a leak and no cracks. The only crack to worry about is what that subie tech was smoking. 335HP/360Tq VF-22/1820 clone with Meth
