16psibrick
car is a white 06 350z...the goals are: 1. good sound quality 2. complete use of trunk space (stealth) 3. clean but with a little flare lets get started: headunit: Pioneer 7800MP installed using the metra 06 Z kit: http://simplicity.elitecaraudio.org/sean1.jpg the front stage uses a pair of Polk Audio Signature Reference 6.5" comp set (mounted coaxially) in a set of Wicked CAS door pods. The inside of the door pod is compeltely dampened with Edead, as is the inside of hte plastic door panel. while it was a huge pain to pull suede across the curvy shape, i managed to do it with lots of tugging and swearing http://simplicity.elitecaraudio.org/sean10.jpg http://simplicity.elitecaraudio.org/sean11.jpg http://simplicity.elitecaraudio.org/sean12.jpg
16psibrick
the trunk is obviously hte main attraction, here is what it looks like all covered, up, as you can see the floor hasnt been raised at all http://simplicity.elitecaraudio.org/sean2.jpg take out the two layers of carpet and you are greated with this: http://simplicity.elitecaraudio.org/sean3.jpg http://simplicity.elitecaraudio.org/sean4.jpg covers protect and hide all the components, and a combination vinyl/sude makes up the floor theme. the center is a mesh grill covered in grile cloth to protect the subs and with all the covers off, its all revealed Two Elemental Designs nine2x flank a pair of Ed 11kv black cones, infront of the amps are the two monstrous crossover modules from the Polk SR set. two tone black vinyl with white suede flows across the entire floor... sounds pretty decent as well, the two 11kvs provide more than enough bass in the little Z to shake hairs and rattle mirrors, and they even provide clean bass with the carpet on http://simplicity.elitecaraudio.org/sean5.jpg http://simplicity.elitecaraudio.org/sean6.jpg http://simplicity.elitecaraudio.org/sean7.jpg http://simplicity.elitecaraudio.org/sean8.jpg http://simplicity.elitecaraudio.org/sean9.jpg
16psibrick
and here are a few behind the scenes shots to show some of the attention to detail: first you can see the pods thare dampened as well as the doors, semi-permiable carpet and a piece of foam dampening gives the pod a semi-sealed enclosure. note TWO pairs of new speaker wires are run into the door via the factory molex plug http://simplicity.elitecaraudio.org/sean13.jpg http://simplicity.elitecaraudio.org/sean14.jpg http://simplicity.elitecaraudio.org/sean15.jpg and here is the trunk with all the floor off, showing that there arent flying wires every where http://simplicity.elitecaraudio.org/sean16.jpg
leggtnut
16psibrick, you do such good work. Boulderguy
You've done it again - nice! Especially like the super clean pods & the non-PGT wiring job around the trunk... [just call me zip-tie boy] If I could change anything about it I'd spend an extra few hundred for a custom 'glas dash mount over the Metra for a little more flair, not that it needs it but I just can't leave well enough alone. Keep sending the pics of new systems!

Sobrry01
IS350? He is replacing the Mark Levinson system? My dad has one of those and it is by far the best car stereo I have heard.
biz77
Looks very well put together per your usual work. How do you like the Polk SR components? I'm thinking about accomodating a set for the Legacy.
ron_c1
IS350? He is replacing the Mark Levinson system? My dad has one of those and it is by far the best car stereo I have heard. No, I decided against that option. I already had equipment from my Legacy, and couldn't find a dealership that had an ML on the lot without all the other options that I can live without. Besides, I wanted 16psibrick to do an install in my car....had even thought about having him do my Legacy before I decided not to put more money into it.
