Freakin S600 has a twin-turbo intercooled 5.5 litre V12 with 612 ft-lb of torque and 510 HP. 0 - 60 MPH is rated at 4.4 seconds and cost $139,900. It can beat this thing while the driver and his 3 friends are sipping coladas in pure opulence It is nice eye candy though especially with that Ferrari like engine bay. Barrok Posted September 28, 2006 Share Posted September 28, 2006 Have performance numbers been released? The RS4 was 0-60 in about 4.5 seconds... which what I believe is the same engine. I would assume the R8 will be lighter and have less wind resistance putting it alot closer to 4 seconds. If it is 0-60 in around 4 seconds then it would be as fast as an M6, M5 (and it has AWD) and faster than any porsche except the 911 turbo (the GT isn't built anymore). That seems like pretty good performance numbers to me! It's not 150 to 170k American. That is an Australian site. I think it is supposed to come in around 90k to 100k or so. Just looked at my C&D mag. If they are right there will be the v8 420hp at around $80k and then a V-10 500+ hp car that used the Gallardo's v-10 for around $120k. So figure this motor will be available at introduction. There are definitely making one with over 500 horses and they're also going to make one with less horsepower than this proposed one. Keep in mind Audi does own Lamboghini so they have access to 500+ horsepower engines. Which they will use in the souped up version of this R8. Also, of course its gonna be over expensive. Its an Audi! Last I checked a new 4 banger Audi A4 with a couple options is over 40K! My buddy just bought an 06 S4 for 60K! If you have to have AWD, a sweet interior, and a German badge on your car then you wont mind paying the premium. Its crazy to me but I see A LOT of Audis on the road.
