el scorcho
maybe we should get a sticky for this thread? I was wondering where the best dealer service departments are in So. Cal (LA, OC, SD) in terms of after market friendliness, general work, etc. Also, garages that are particularly good at working on Legacy's such as installing after market parts, tuning, bodywork, tint and whatnot. starlabs
While they're not an official dealer/service dept (I believe), I only hear great things from Subie Specialists in Monrovia... Haven't gone there myself yet, but next time my car needs work or service interval check, I'll be going there. -=- Livin life at 140 BPM -=-

j0ebert
Welcome to Outback, mate ! I will probably take my car there for all the stuff I don't feel like getting my hands dirty with. Reasonable rates, nice people and he has done extensive Subaru motor builds for sand cars. He has also started working with turbo'd H6s. I've never seen so many motors in one place in my life... Got my transmission and rear end fluids done there last week for the most reasonable rates I would have ever imagined.

electricsunset
I have a 1997 Subaru Legacy Brighton wagon with 83K miles. I needed a variety of work done and went to the Subaru Forums on the internet to get some ideas. The All Wheel Junkies website (focues on Subraru WRX) had many messages talking about the fine service experience they received at Econo Lube N Tune on 2nd avenue in Chula Vista. They frequently mentioned the co-owner Tony, who owns WRXs and his great service. I called and spoke to Miguel, who is also a co-owner. I drove down a week later at 10 am. The place was crowded with cars/trucks and loyal customers. I was candid with Miguel and told him that my experience has been that many car places are unfamiliar with this older 2.2L Subaru Legacy (most are 2.5L) and that this often results in overfilling fluids. Miguel’s response was that he would personally check all the work and show it to me when completed so that I would be comfortable that the job was done right. I accepted his offer. For the time I was there Miguel personally checked all the work and showed it to me. We road tested the car two times and he patiently answered all of my many questions. Bottom Line: Miguel is a class act who believes in customer satisfaction. Both he and Tony understand the importance of building a strong customer base. They pride themselves on recommending only the work that is needed and offer competitive prices (which are better than Subaru dealerships). I liked the fact that Miguel was willing to personally check the work that was done and involve me in this process “Mi casa is su casa” he said after inviting in the back to watch his guy work on my brakes. And most important, he really meant it. Miguel can be reached at (619)474-4009.
