caramall2
Do sway bar bushings get worn over time and need replacing (say 60k miles)? Was curious.
CombatCQB
Yes, I'm replacing one of the front bushings tomorrow. But I autox alot too. Only 40k on mine. Also have to replace the lower control arm bushings soon.
Xenonk
they can..., but all of my bushings are fine except for the lower control arm ones.. they are starting to chunk off at 50k miles (which about 2000 miles was autox and track use).. caramall2
Thanks. I'm just going to pick up some spares (FSB, RSB). I'll also keep in mind about other bushings. Sounds like if you want a sportier car to stay fairly "tight" up to, say, 120k miles, you can just assume you'll be replacing bushings, struts, etc, at least once or twice. (I'm sure more if you're racing a lot.)

I'm going to try to make the MCC event this Sunday, although with my DSM this time.
G.T.Subie
I replaced my FSB bushingd with some AVO ones and they helped stop some clunking I had going on. Denial is your best friend
caramall2
I bought some Energy Suspension poly bushings...what I like is the have a grease fitting so you can just squirt some in there a couple times a year.
G.T.Subie
I could have used that, mine were squeaking like mad at first. Denial is your best friend
Stang70Fastback
I've never replaced mine. Which is probably the knocking noise the rear suspension makes over bumps, lol. How hard are those to replace yourself?
caramall2
Pretty easy because you don't have to take out the sway bar (the hard part). You just take off a bracket, lower the bar a little, slap on the new one.

caramall2
Look up correct model number on http://www.energysuspension.com/pages/swaybbct.html per your bar diameter, then go to Jegs and buy (other places have them too).

lgt_nube
Here's a long thread of the subject. The dealer replaced mine under my extended warranty because they were cracked beyond Subaru's "standard" for replacement. I think it's a design flaw. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87499 A few photos of the LGT My current ride
caramall2
Energy Suspension Bushings: I'll post more up, but note there is a moderate amount of mods (cutting/trimming the metal) to the brackets you need to do to make them fit for the front sway bar because the factory brackets are smaller and the frame constrains them on at some points. Just got done installing. Took like 2-1/2 hours instead of just 30 minutes. So if you don't want to mess with that, I wouldn't get them. Also, need to check clearance on skid plate (I have an aluminum one). That said, now that they're installed, it's great...just hook up the grease gun and squirt away. There are groves inside so it actually "holds" some grease in there.
