The OEM JDM hid's have leveling motors with 5 steps of up/down aim, they really are not brighter than non hid's but the blue light is cool to look at. Also there is a front end difference between the JDM 01 to 03 legacy's and the USA ones so as gt_ltd said they won't fit.

Thought I'd throw my $.02 into the FAQ. This website answered many questions I had when I was researching HID for my other car: http://www.intellexual.net/hid.html

Since I don't see Stern's listed, might as well add that to the mix, too: http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/tech.html There's much that's good about HIDs, but at their current state of evolution, they're not the-best-thing-since-sliced-bread, either, and Stern's technical analysis does well to put things in-perspective. What's important to keep in-mind, though, is that while incandescents probably have seen (no pun intended) as much improvement as they will ever have, at present, HIDs will continue to evolve and continue to improve in the coming years - and that, of course, is where the true promise lies. :)
