rao
I really want to paly MP3's and would much prefer to be able to drop in a normal DIN head unit (I have one from my old car ready and waiting). If I could get the VDC panel that plays MP3's that would probably do the job as well but I can't see dropping $700 for it :o Actually, this was the issue that prevented me from getting the car a lot earlier. Any good ideas out there? Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT
Mindflayer
King of Imports has a double-din bezel, but it's pricey at $290. I have an existing stereo as well, but I can;t justify spending $290 and all the hassle to rewire the HVAC, etc.
rao
I don't know if that would really work, in the picture it looks like the HVAC is a separate panel. I wouldn't want to cut up the stock one, it would be very difficult to get it to look right. If that one comoes with a new HVAC panel (that reads in F) I would be interested. I am sure the aftermarket will catch up eventually. Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT
Mindflayer
I've sent Kevin from KoI a link to this topic - maybe he can answer those questions.

Maybe if you have the manual climate control the Japanese one might work.

Guest JessterCPA
$700 for the OEM MP3?? Damn.....
rao
It's free if you buy the VDC :) Like any OEM part, it costs a lot to replace. Also, since there is no DIN alternative, it is not like you can find anyone with the VDC who has one laying around that they would like get rid of. chibisak
also if u see clearly the bezel on King of Imports sites will not fit the USDM Legacy. Becos the left side of the console is kinda curve, which is on right right side on USDM. NoblePrawn
Is it my imagination or is what KoI selling the navigation screen and bezel not the double din? (Which isn't likely to fit for the already mentioned reasons.) -NP
Mindflayer
KoI contacted me, and it is indeed the screen.
Deer Killer
didn't someone say it doesn't play VBR mp3's? ugh.. ipod sounds like a much better deal (even though it's really overpriced).
bemani
According to the manual, it isn't supported. We need someone with a VDC to tell us where it can play it or not.
