copyright laws are in place for a reason ........ to protect the people/company that come up with an idea and do the r&d.

Rota is not going out of business because I assume they change the design enough so as to not have to worry about losing lawsuits to the companies they copy.

Since you assume you really don't know.

You should never ASSUME since it makes an ASS of U and ME. :)

if you dont want it, dont get rotas

buy bbs and spend a lot more cash

and stop crying about it

Well you do get superior quality with the BBS RE wheel.

Here are some points regarding the quality of the BBS RE wheel:

  • fully forged 1 piece mesh wheel
  • Air Craft Quality alloy
  • made in Japan
  • excellent paint – one of the best
  • wheel is perfectly balanced
  • one of the strongest wheels
  • weight 19 lbs

Most fully forged wheels cost about the same as the BBS fully forged wheels.

Volk's forged wheels sell for much more than Tirerack’s price for the BBS RE.

As Xenonk has said “the BBS forged mesh designs are the strongest wheel designs made”.

Rota has been making knock-offs for decades. I do not know how they get around it but here are some of the wheels that I remember:

ATS (1980s)

Minilites (late 1980s)

Cromodora (late 1980s) - these are 70s-80s OEM Ferrari wheels.

Vega (early 1990s)

Work Ewing (early 1990s)

BBS R??? (early 1990s)

Mercedes OEM (early model for 115 & 123 body to 126 body types)

BMW Alpina styles (for 3-series of the 80s)
