Beanboy
What's the point? Noticed one edge of mine was dangling, went to push it back and noticed part of a dead leaf stuck between it and the metal lip. Took the whole thing off and there was a layer of dirt along the metal lip and the interior of the weatherstripping. Doesn't appear to keep out water, and I would think over time it would cause more damage than good by trapping debris and holding in water. Subaru just lazy in rolling the sharp metal lip? Protect the metal from stones tossed from wheels? Known rust area in older Subarus and my above comments completely off? -B -B http://www.standardshift.com

Gt4Me
Right on. One side on my car fell off so the other went to the circular file. Nice detail but WORTHLESS.

Xenonk
it's to prevent the rusting.. normally when you kick up all that dirt and rocks, that lip is pretty thin and very easy to chip the paint. Once you chip the paint, the metal is very easy to start to rust. Keefe

ilh
On subject of weatherstripping... On my sedan, with the trunk open, it isn't clear to me whether the water that drains around the trunk lid is supposed to go over the top of tail light trim or under it. It is a very small gap, that is not really sealed, and it is probably just asking for debris to hold moisture. Should I just seal it up with silicone caulk?
