Eblues70
Thoughts on attaching to the hood and not the cover, IE what if you don't run the cover due to a Perrin TMIC and not drilling holes to reaattach?
ih8vtec13
Wow this is a great idea, I was just wondering if it helps to protect the intercooler from soap. I don't want to throw off the ILL (Intercooler Lather Lock) sensor.

Subadozer
Go to www.mcmaster.com - under "Raw Materials and Springs" pick "Metals" - click "Wire Cloth, Mesh, and Perforated Sheets" - look at the section titled: "Percentage of Open Area Range" You can buy a product that's similar to what's in the forward area of the engine cover and the gutter guard. It's called expanded metal lath and is used for plastering. Not sure about Lowes or Home Depot (probably varies regionally) but if they do plaster walls and ceilings in your area you should be able to find it at building supply places that sell plastering supplies. It's a galvanized steel rather than aluminum but should be a lot less expensive than some of the other options mentioned. A sheet of this will do quite a few intercooler covers as it comes in something like a 2'x6' piece.
Brianjone5
I have just picked up an 05 outback XT wagon. There were quite a few bent fins on the intercooler ... This is a great idea. For the adhesive, you could use high temp gasket goop. If making this from two pieces of gutter cover material, you could use security wire instead of plastic wire ties. Harbor Freight carries it. (Wire used to secure nuts from vibrating loose).
08GTLegacy
What if you just covered it with a piece of plexiglass? That'd protect it.... /me looks around. What? Plexi would restrict airflow right? Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
LatentWagen
I'm gonna do this for the WRX, I think. 2005: I went to Lowes and could not find the 45 degree one. 2015: Plexi would restrict airflow right? ^ Concrete proof that the noobs of today are just as clueless as noobs of yesteryear...
