I was joking about the RE92 thing. People said the same thing when they wrecked their WRXs...
DG, Its all good man. I figured it was atleast partially in humor. I wasn't trying to point fingers, just making a statement. I'm just happy everyone is ok. -Nick

I was almost crushed by a semi truck the other day. I was merging onto one highway, off another highway. Traffic was backed up and since we were already on one highway people were hitting the brakes hard sometimes to stop as the off/on ramp was backed up. I looked in my review mirror (like I usually do beause you should always watch your back I think, don't just think well if they hit me its their fault, because if your dead it doesn't make a difference) Anyways, this semi truck was flying towards me, I knew he wouldn't stop in time so I pulled off to the left into the sholder and drove about 3 cars ahead to get out of the way of any aftermath. Well the truck driver locked up all his wheels, smoke everywhere, he turned hard right, got the whole trailer side ways and would have crushed me from behind. So I was lucky, but glad I check the review mirror often, don't trust anyone on the road.

WOWIE! Glad you are ok. Hydroplaning is scary ive been in situations where I am lucky to have kept the car on the road. Just remember for next time the worst thing to do is to lift off the throttle or brake or make steering changes when you are hydroplaning. It makes the car extremely unstable. The best thing to do if you have a straight run is to give enough throttle to maintain your current speed until you get to dry pavement. The law of inertia: An object will keep going in is initial direction unless acted upon by an external force. As follows: Braking and in some cases lifting will slow the front wheels and transfer weight forward. When you transfer that weight forward the front wheels will catch pavement before the rears which are still hydroplaning. Your car "trips" over itself. And you spin. The same is true on dry pavement at high speeds. If you brake mid turn your rears will loose traction MUCH earlier than your fronts will that is because braking hard at the limit transfers all weight to the fron wheels unloading the rear tire. Just getting into some of the mechanics of a spinout. The natural reaction for any driver is to brake in such a situation. This is why 99 percent of cars from the factory are set up to understeer. Manufacturers know that in a less tractive situation people are going to brake. Braking in addition to slowing down the car also brings the balance back to neutral. Not the fastest way around the track but safer in a panic situation. A warning to all the legacy GT has been set up for minimal understeer. Performance wise it is superior than severely understeering cars. However it will not be as forgiving. Everybody wants performance the trick is knowing how to use it. That being said the RE 92's suck. The arent good in any situation.

Thank goodness you survived with no scratch! The safety factor built into today's vehicles is quite impressive. You probably effectively hit the guardrail at close to 60 mph and the cabin was not even disturbed. Others have said don't blame the tires but I keep wondering if other brands would not have held better. According to tirerack, the RE 92 has very poor road manners in the rain. Learn well and keep safe!

Wow, amazing how the rest of the cars looks untouched from the a-frame backwards. Now all they need is adam's car, do a little cut and shunt and you car argue over who gets the need hybrid leggy.
