Any pics of the screen? How do you use it (ie the moise etc.)

It is a touch screen(XENARC 700 tsv), so I don't need a mouse.

The carputer serves as a MP3 player now, will add GPS, bluetooth hand free, DVD player....

Prelude that is killer!

Any plans to make it gaming capable? I can see wireless outside a Starbucks Hot Spot playing Battlefield 2 (on Vista when its out)!

That is doable, all you need to do is to get a ATI-8500 video card(minimum card required to play BF2),wireless adapter, and a hot spot, you are ready to go!

Please also consider that it is only a 7" monitor, 800X600 resoluation, so you don't see that clear compared with a regular 15" screen.

Also, another issue is power, if you don't idle the car to get the battery charged, three rounds later (maybe longer) you and your car will need a "medic" to jump start! "Clear!" " I owe you once!"

I guess I missed your initial post. Were you able to get the single zone JDM HVAC controls to work?

ignore him, he'll go away.

fweasel,

Unfortunately not. Last year, GFXDave mailed his unit to another member who was able to get the system to work, just no lights. I've been trying to PM GFXDave and Daswrx (I think that was him... that guy works electronic wonders) to send him my unit, but neither have responded. For now, the system is A/C less but it sure gets people's attention at the stop light with the Navigation on and the 2DIN graphics. I also intend on getting an HKS Camp system to hook up to the screen instead of buying guages to fill up my dash.

My ghetto 2nd-hand setup...

Everything but the XM receiver was bought from friends. I ran the XM antenna through the cubby, out to the engine bay, and up the side of the windshield. Next project is to move the 12V power adapter behind the dash and get rid of one more cable! The amp has tack strip (like the stuff that keeps your living room carpet in place - hehe) screwed to the bottom of it to keep it where it is :-P I'm no audiophile, and am very happy with the sound.

Ahh....I was afraid you'd say that. :) Nice finish work, though. Did you use pop rivots to secure the plexiglass as well? Is that aluminum trim?

thank you!

that aluminum panel with see through window is a Lian Li (a company makes great pc case) side panel, http://www.lian-li.com/Product/Accessories/Window_Kits.htm

Not very strong to hold much weight, so I need to put a wooden piece on top of it if I need to haul something in the trunk.

Now it makes sense. I wondered if you had that trim custom fabricated or something because it's tough to cut metal into one piece and make it look that smooth. It typically has to be cut and finished with a press. You can do 45 degree cuts of straight pieces, but one piece looks better. Looks like i have some more researching to do. :)
