Noooooo! Arrrgghhhhh!!! Please tell me the box for the Alpine 12s is for another car! Everybody knows you don't mix subs in the same car. It may win show points but the sound will suck.

lol, no worries. the smaller box is a sealed box for 2 Alpine Type R 12's that's going in my friend's 2001 4-door saturn. indeed, i DO know better then mixing subs (whether it be brands OR sizes). thanks for the friendly reminder, though :).

Must ... fight ... urge ... to ... build ... massive ... wall ... in ... truck ........

I'm definitely an "old school" car stereo guy. I have the first CA&E magazine, bought off the shelf! I remember when the Coustic XM3 was new, and I was ultra cool when I bought a pullout tape deck for like $200+. I owned Clarion's first car CD player, one of the first I'd seen that didn't require a cartridge to hold the single CD. I still have a voice module to a StealStopper alarm system (DEI; later renamed Python).

Before I entered the IT field I owned a small car stereo shop in the early 90s. Unlike what you may picture when you think of a small town shop, I wasn't just slapping amps & speakers into cars.

I was MECP certified when it was new. I went to the Installer Institute in FL and took their advanced install class as well as sub enclosure design. It's the design that's key, and I enjoy surprising people. At that last contest, people were first surprised to hear "that kind" of music coming from a Grand Marquis. Then they were more shocked to see it was a single 12 literally tossed into the trunk that morning.

To me there's no such thing as too much bass! I can appreciate everything else about car stereo (my music ranges from The Blues Brothers to Dire Straits to Metallica to Eightball & MJG to The Oak Ridge Boys) but I'm still happiest when I throw in some Dynamix II and let 'er rip. :D

arent you worried about someone jacking your system?

Its got padlocks and stripped bolts, so its permenant ;) JK

Besides, if someone was to steal that thing, it would take them forever to remove that sucker, its freakin huge...

Compensating for something? JK Looks nice though, just too big for my taste.

If I pass you on the right, I'm flipping you off.

Damn I wonder what my car could hit with my set up...

  • Pioneer AVH-P6500DVD
  • Pioneer Hideaway media controller for Tv tuner, XM and PS2
  • Eclipse Tweeters
  • Eclipse 6 1/2" Point Source Speakers
  • 1 Eclipse 10" Aluminum DVC Sub
  • Rockford Fosgate 551s Power Series Amp
  • Rockford Fosgate 1.0 Farad Capcitor

I wanna know what mine would hit....

2002 Civic Si

2 12" Alpine Type-R's

Diamond Audio HEX S600s

Phoenix Gold Xenon 1200.1 for the subs (yes, 1200 rms)

Phoenic Gold Xenon 200.2 for the components up front (yes, 200 rms PER SIDE)

Hatchback Acoustics... :icon_bigg

I am coming very close to breaking the seal around my windshield. You can stand outside and watch the body panels move back and forth like crazy when the bass hits (prolly cause it's a honda :icon_tong ) All I know is that it gets LOUD! and stays clean!
