Sure, сompared to others, their sales are not very high and  they're non in Top-5 or Top-10 (In world), but they're still in a very strong position.

Your source link kinda gives my statement validation.  People want cross overs or SUV type vehicles, the majority do not want sedans, and now also; electrification. That article says Forester (SUV) sales up 7.3%, Crosstrek (crossover) sales up 25%, which puts the Outback (wagon)... their most popular model for a decade or two, is now in third place.

Subaru's March 2024 sales: 61,297

Toyota's March 2024 sales: 184,123

Subaru's March 2025 sales: 71,478. a 16% increase, nice!

Toyota's March 2025 sales: 231,335

But the numbers still show Toyota is outpacing Subaru by a significant margin.  in 2024 they were at 33.3% of production, in 2025 it's 30.9%.

If Subaru was on the same level as Toyota, yeah... we could probably keep the Legacy.  In a year or three I'm curious if that nameplate will make a return on a Toyota chassis... much like we have the brs-86, and the weirdly named bz4xelonterra.

I'm wrote about this on previous page: sedans die as kind, as we loosed hardtops any years ago

It's funny cool cars, but not practical for family and travelling.

Agree with you, in percent it's looks great, but in facticial numbers? :)

(This is as was be in reports about EV selling:
- We sold 200% cars in this month  than last month.
- Sound good, but what it mean in numbers?
- 10 cars.
- 10 cars? How many cars was sold before?
- 3)

But, Toyota always been bigger, than Subaru. Corolla (boring and plain car) - most popular and selling model in World)

Compare Toyota and Subaru this is as compare WV and Audi) (they are in one group too) but only Audi cut their car's models. VW discountinued only Beetle (also legendary car).

I hope, that's never gonna happen. Never.

I'm been pleasure to amuse you )))) (joke)

For beginning, let me a told that i'm not from USA and didn't know situation with automarket here. (and sorry, for my English, i'm not native)

In my coutry we use cars from US's aftermarket (IAAI, sometimes manheim, etc), and Tacoma very exotic car here) Tundra also rare, but sometimes found on the roads.

Pikups our people don't like)

Popular car was GX470. RX300-350, etc)

Middle class use Camry 30-40, Legacy, Accord, Odyssey, stepwgn (when import was allowerd from Japan (RHD)), when it was close: Outback, Forester, also Camry and various Lexus, of course this not all models with import.

We don't have cars manufacturing, and all - imports from others countries.  And we didn't  impact on statictic sales data. 🤣

Authorized dealers: only BMW, Toyota (only 7 models: Corolla, Camry, RAV4, Highlander, LC200/300 and Hilux), Chevy and Kia. So, as I wrote, all was IMHO, based on talks with owners, worker from services and information from web.

Unfortunatelly, but I'm agree with you. After the merger Subaru-Toyota, I think begined specific inner processes for new bussines plans.

For me: 4thG - one love, and don't wanna drive BR or BN. BW - a little interesting from exterior, but FA-FB engines - don't know. Here's today's tecnologies, if that was add in 4thG - i think it's would be cool (assistents, new cruise control algoritms, EyeSight, etc) and all on classic EJ and EZ))

agree on 100%

I think you're familiar with a term: "era of disposable things". I think it's gotte to cars, too.

Companies don't wanе you drive one car for a long time, and change them as often as possible (for expample every 2 years or every 50-100k km distance).

I'm affraid this times, when instead of changing fluids in engine, gearbox etc we must change all car (as in the case of EVs where replacing the battery is an unwise decision (whan now we can see with smartphones with  non-removable battery (sure, it's can be fixed, but many people will do this?)

Sorry, i think go to the offtopic theme.🙃

As far as a Hilux.  I'll take Diesel Hilux any day of the week.  That is almost like a Tacoma but just slightly different.  When I lived overseas I had a Isuzu KB 250 and a 380 DT then I upgraded to a Defender 110 TD5.
