Blowout
This first happened 1/1/2023. Removed the MAF sensor and cleaned it. Also cleaned the battery terminals and fully charged the battery. No problems since... until today. Same thing happened. Stopped at the store briefly and after returning to start the car, it starts then immediately dies. Same scenario as last year... stopped at a store and it wouldn't start. Multiple attempts to start it with the same result. Wait awhile and it starts up and doesn't happen again. No fault codes found (same as a year ago). Pulled the MAF and nothing unusual seen, but I cleaned it anyway. Anyone else have this happen to them? If so, how'd you resolve the issue? Jimothy_14
have you tried spraying some starting fluid to see if it runs for a bit after starting? if not start there. if you have and it still dies immediately, test your coil packs, check your spark plugs then do a compression test. Blowout
It's been starting without issue since. I'm going to have a shop check for fault codes. If they also can't find any codes it might have something to do with the key chip not being recognized by the car's computer causing the car to shut off. Not sure... creep_nu
immobilizer popped in to my head...have you put a fresh battery in it at any point?
Blowout
Battery replaced 4 1/2 years ago. Cleaned the terminals a year ago when the problem first occured and haven't disconnected the battery since. Terminals look clean and battery took a top off charge fine.
