Battery light on

Recommended Posts

I'm having a issues in cold weather.

When i start my car it charging at low voltage 11.4 ish. After maybe 2-3min idling the battery light goes out and the voltage goes up to 13.9 .

Alternator and the battery or brand new.

Eny advice?

Does the pcm control the voltage or it all done on the alternator side?

My OBXT does the same thing. Happens when starting it after sitting outside below roughly 0°F. I've been through everything in the charging system I can think of and haven't found anything wrong. It hasn't become any worse over time and has never stranded me so I gave up trying to fix it.

Alternator, cluster, and a fuse control the charging system. Check the alt-s fuse in the engine bay.

I put a new alternator fuse in. And this morning my light was still on. 😕
