Crisfer
Hello everyone new to the forums I'm doing a timing belt water and oil pump on this 09 spec b upon inspection I noticed this sticking out a bit looks like crank bearing what are your thoughts? Haze
That's exactly what it is. Not sure what could cause that other than the bearing shell being improperly installed in the first place. There's a small tab on the back side of the bearing that fits into a corresponding notch in the block. That tab would have to be either crushed or sheared off for the shell to sit where it is.
subaru-tech
That's the part of the crankshaft that the front crank seal in the oil pump seas against.
Crisfer
Thanks for replying I advised my brother on this and let him know that it's a problem, since he has been driving it like this I'm hoping he can get a few more miles on it. Haze
Just to clarify, the pen is pointing to where the oil seal sits. The problem is the thin piece protruding between the crank and block a bit further back.
Crisfer
Yes where the oil seal sits but it would be inline with the oil pump rear cover pump sits flush once in place.
