VespaGTS
Good morning LGT Crew, I have a slow leak in the power steering pump and I plan on doing a replacement. It's not the little o-ring on the top of the pump anymore. Its leaking behind the pulley bearing. What other lines, or tanks should I replace during the swap out of the pump? KZJonny
On 8/22/2023 at 3:12 PM, Enlight said: It was vapor honed and then I just sprayed it with Rustoleum Cold Galvanizing spray paint. I didn't have the time or patience to give it the full prime/paint treatment as I did some other components. The bearing is NTN 6203LLU and I got the reseal kit from Power Steering Seals. I took a gamble on them since I didn't see many reviews but can confirm they fit. Could be worth trying the kit to save a little skrilla? I'd at least visually investigate the power steering line from the rack to the reservoir and pump. They get pretty rusty and can leak especially on bottom where they are exposed to salt/road trash. Not fun to replace, but less fun to replace when they've leaked ATF all over the place.
relative4
I recommend replacing the suction hose. They crack radially at the pump end and are often the source of leaks attributed to the pump or the O-ring.
VespaGTS
Thanks guys. I have the rebuild kit already with the bearing. I figure if it doesn’t work out I can always buy a new pump. I will get the suction hose replaced as well.
relative4
I've had good luck with PS pump rebuilds. Whatever you do, just don't get a Cardone reman pump. Those are invariably garbage.
