gorillafan208
Hello, I am in the middle of replacing the waterpump, timing belt, cam seals, etc. on my legacy and when I put in the new thermostat in the waterpump and tightened down the housing, I noticed that the housing was not perfectly flush with the waterpump itself. I was just wondering if that is how it is supposed to be, I just don't wanna put it back on the car and have it dump all my coolant out. I used the Aisin waterpump, thermostat gasket and then an OEM thermostat. If anyone could give me any advice that would be greatly appreciated! m sprank
How did it fit on the old pump? Chances are the plastic is a bit warped from age and the gasket will seal if it was not previously leaking.
doublechaz
I've never dry fitted the parts out of the car like that, so I'm not sure, but I expect a tiny gap would exist so that the clamping force is on the gasket. I say read the FSM, torque to spec, and send it.
