  1. Hello, I have been doing the brakes on my 98 Subaru legacy and after putting the pads on and trying to put the sliding pins in, they just won't fit in the bracket. I cleaned them and greased them with the moly grease that came with the pads but they just won't fit. They go in like a mm so the bottom of the pin is flush with the bracket carrier hole, but won't go any farther. I have tried the following: hammering the pin down, disconnecting the bracket from the caliper and just trying to put the pin through it, cleaning the pin again and regreasing it, taking 1000 grit sandpaper and trying to remove any buildup. I am honestly very confused on what to do, as it seems like the pins just don't fit anymore even though they were just in the bracket! Anyone with advice please let me know, someone on Reddit told me that I should use a drill bit to widen the carrier hole but I'm worried that it will mess up the function of the pin. (I know there is supposed to be a rubber piece at the end of the pin, I just took it off to try and shove into the bracket)

  3. I did do some research and I think that the 13086AA012 one you linked is the right one. I tried calling the dealership to see what part number I needed but no one answered or answered my message so I had to do some online sleuthing.

Hi, I am doing a timing belt job on my 97 legacy and found that the tensioner was of the newer style while the tensioner I got with the Aisin kit is an old style, I read that to go from the old to new tensioner you had to get a new bracket for it, but I haven't found much info about it. So is it true that if I wanna replace the new style tensioner with the older style I have to replace the mounting bracket, and if so where should I get one? Thank you guys EDIT: Okay I am dumb, I will definitely need to switch brackets, is there anywhere I can buy them?
  5. Ok thank you. I'm guessing it is some grit or something stopping it from seating. Will try cleaning it and hope that fixes it
  6. I tried tightening it more but it wouldn't budge, is the dowel supposed depress fully when you torque down the cam?
  7. Hi, I am finishing up a timing belt job and trying to put the right cam sprocket back on, but there is a protrusion on the front that stops the bolt from being able to fully thread and I was wondering what I should do/if I did anything wrong to make it like this.

Hello, I am in the middle of replacing the waterpump, timing belt, cam seals, etc. on my legacy and when I put in the new thermostat in the waterpump and tightened down the housing, I noticed that the housing was not perfectly flush with the waterpump itself. I was just wondering if that is how it is supposed to be, I just don't wanna put it back on the car and have it dump all my coolant out. I used the Aisin waterpump, thermostat gasket and then an OEM thermostat. If anyone could give me any advice that would be greatly appreciated!
