St8-e
I have had a rather loud/annoying rattle when I turn my car off and sometimes at idle…I have isolated it as inside of the factory muffler at the rear of the car. My guess is a baffle broke loose or a weld broke inside, etc… Before it causes a larger issue, I figure I should just replace it as it seems pretty straight forward to replace. I would “prefer” to go OEM, but would rather not pay OEM price. I’m not looking for any more noise, performance, etc…Has anyone had good luck with a particular aftermarket muffler for these cars? I would like to retain the stock look (exhaust tip/exit location, etc.) I may try to find a low mileage one at a junkyard if I can find one… Thanks! DougKelly20
Junk yard is your best bet for what you're asking. Very easy if you pick up and exhaust hanger removal tool. Fairly easy if you don't but ....I highly recommend it.
Rocktman
Been there, done that. It's definitely a loose baffle. I was lucky to have my muffler replaced while still under warranty, but it took a bit of convincing to get a dealer tech to go for a ride so they could hear the rattle. As soon as he heard it, he said, "you need a muffler."
