NewSR
2019 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Limited When I turn the HVAC system to "Off" AND I'm driving - heat still is being blown out of the center dash vents. Is this normal? In the old days [many years ago] when the heater/AC was turned off no air moved out of the vents [i.e., "Closed system"] If this condition is normal, do you have to keep the system on "Auto"?? Thanks in advance, Joe
DougKelly20
Yes. Typically whatever it's set at before its turned off it will blow slightly when off. It seems like its just pass through air at that point. Nothing major.
ammcinnis
When you turn the system OFF, the airflow control dampers will remain in their current positions. If you don't want outside air, for example, you need to select RECIRC before turning the system OFF. My recommendation is to normally leave the system in FULL AUTO mode and adjust the TEMP dial up or down a degree or two at a time, until the cabin temperature stabilizes at a point where you're comfortable.
