1996brightoncanada
Hello so while i was working on my car i tried putting the ignition switch through the steering collumn to the right side so it was more convenient to start with screwdriver. Anyways, while i was doing that i think i touched the terminals to a ground and shorted something. i cannot test fuses because i can’t turn my car to acc or run or anything. Anyone know what could be wrong or what i can do to try to figure it out? it’s a 1996 legacy brighton (pretty sure it doesn’t have a single option installed/very base model)
Osei
start by checking your fuses inside the car and the engine bay. Here is link to FSM: http://jdmfsm.info/Auto/Japan/Subaru/ O.
1996brightoncanada
I have tried but i cannot find power anywhere on my ignition switch or on any fuse in that fuse box, nothing lights up. Is that because i cannot turn my key or should they still be lighting up with the car off? Thank you
Brighton96
You might have to get a power probe to start testing circuits if you aren't able to get power to come on with the "key"
Osei
Electrical work i am not good at. But, in the body electrical section file ending in 6376, covers the switch itself. Position a1 on the connector is your constant 12v. The early manuals like this are not named, just numbered, so they are hard to find specifics, but they are they. Good luck.
