11.6-in touchscreen interface

Recommended Posts

Considering Premium model.

Is this interface distracting? I know we're talking new generation car, first-gen interface but I'm wondering for those that have it, do you find it distracting?

What I've read. slightly cumbersome interface, may need to go into second level of controls to get what you what to access.

What I want to know. Is it too bright at night while driving? Is the panel too reflective during the day? Is the panel a fingerprint magnet?

Really considering this car, but not finding much written about this feature. Would appreciate your thoughts, thank you.

You can adjust the brightness and set to whatever your preference. In the day its not an issue. The screen does takes some getting use to, especially if you’re coming from an older model like I am from 2012 GT to the 2020 Touring. Since preference vary, consider taking one for a test drive and see what you think.

Touchscreen is pretty cool. Brightness is adjustable and can be turned off entirely. For controls, my biggest complaint is the HVAC is on the screen instead of buttons. This requires two levels to get to things like seat heaters and AC control. Not the end of the world, but not the best.

This is a great car to daily drive. Can't beat it for features and value for the $.

I really enjoy driving this car (Legacy 2020). One thing that does bother me is that I find that the screen is too low on the dashboard, so it is very difficult to look at the map and the road at the same time. This is compensated by having the next navigation step being displayed on the smaller screen right behind the steering wheel (and you may need to set that up) but not being able to see a map while still focusing on the road is at best disconcerting, at worst dangerous.

Well I did purchase the Premium Legacy that I started this post with 3 weeks ago. This car has way too much tech and I'm still settling into it. Yes there are manuals but so much too read my eyes get glazed so I'm getting through it a little at a time. A couple of thoughts:

Using the touchscreen can be distracting, even when you know where things are.

I do like that you can shut it down with an extended push of the volume button.

I don't like the Apple Carplay interface, at least not on the first attempt.

I keep a microfiber cloth in the glovebox and wipe the screen down every couple of days. Smudges don't seem to be a problem.

What I'm really not a fan of is the USB connections under the touchscreen. My hands aren't that big but it is not easy to plug in a USB into those ports, I mean NOT EASY.

That said, I do like the car! :)
