Exhaust Problems?

Hi to all :

I have a 96 2.5 Outback . i notice this lately my exhaust pressure out of the muffler is not coming out strong enough.It feels very little pressure to none.

can anyone tell me if there is a problem with the exhaust system of anything is clogged ??

Does it run poorly?

If your CATs are original they could be clogged. Once they get old enough to not do their chemical magic they can plug with carbon. Or if there is something wrong with the engine management they can plug up even if they aren't worn out otherwise. Do you notice a reduction in power?

I'd look under the car to see if you squished the exhaust pipe going over a speed bump or something as well. But my vote is for cats needing replacing. (you can just gut the second one if you aren't in CA)

I broke the matrix inside my second CAT and the pieces plugged it up. I ran with it completely hollowed out for a couple weeks with no codes or problems while the replacement shipped.

Years I was driving up the NY State Thruway at high speed when my catalytic converter broke up. My 1999 Legacy GT almost shut itself down and I was barely able to limp off to the next exit. Momentum was all I had going for me.

 

It really all does depend on if your car is running well or not.

I feel the lack of power and poor acceleration as well.
