Project_bp-xt
Went to start my OBXT this morning and would crank and turn over for a few seconds then turn itself off. No codes, traction control, CEL, battery, and oil lights would come on, then if I tried to start it, it would just crank with no ignition. I noticed that my security light kept blinking even when I unlocked the car and was sitting in it. Not sure what is happening, but need to get this fixed ASAP. Any ideas??? ehsnils
If you have a secondary key - try with that. Also try with disconnecting the battery - and make sure the battery is good. Otherwise it can be the antenna that's in a ring around the ignition lock or the wiring to the BIU. At worst it's the BIU.
Project_bp-xt
I only have the 1 key. Tried disconnecting the battery and that didn't work but ill try again when I get home this afternoon. Is there any way to check the antenna around the ignition? How would I be able to tell if that's the problem???
ehsnils
Some reading on the matter of immobilizer: https://subaru.locksmithsdrm.com/SubaruSDRM/downloads/subaru_service_bulletin.pdf A thread on the antenna. https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/05-legacy-immobilizer-antenna-location-help-225253.html Unfortunately the immobilizer is one of the items that when it starts to act up requires some good tools that only a friendly workshop or possibly locksmith might have. Also look here, search for "immobilizer" in this doc: https://www.bedug.com/pics/Subaru/2009/2009.pdf
EvoWho
Try using the shift lock to put it in neutral, then start it. My legacy does this sometimes.
Notorious
If the car turns over and then shuts off could it be fuel related? Last I remember, when I put in my secondary key without the chip programmed it won’t even crank.
