mangry
First time changing plugs and I can't find the manufactures "torque setting" anywhere. A factory service manual seems like a logical place, but haven't found it there or any place else. Maybe just overlooking it somehow. If someone can point it out to me I would gladly appreciate it. Brighton96
Repair manual says 15 ft-lbs. I usually go until I feel the crush washer stop crushing, which is usually only 1/2-3/4 turn past hand tight.
mangry
Thanks for the info. However I’ve already finished the job. I was a kind of cautious and set a 11-12 ft-lb. Hopefully they will stay put. The ones that came out were both loose and tight. I’m curious what manual and where you found the 15 ft-lb?
Brighton96
I was using the haynes one, the torque spec may very with different manuals, as long as you torqued them enough to crush the washer then it'll be fine.

mangry
WOW! With some embarrassment I have to apologize and admit my hastyness, frustration and poor vision lead me to believe Subaru hadn't listed the torque specs in the factory service manual. I was very wrong! In plain site, I never looked in the correct section. Moving from decades of Honda to Subaru. Honda service manuals seem easier for me to navigate. They are way easier to navigate - Subaru didn't have the budget (then).
