  1. House sold I rented for 22 years and now i live in an apartment, without place to work on vehicles. For now i have to abandon coilovers, since I cant find a shop near that will touch my wagon because its too: old, only shop parts, no after market parts, my lack of confidence or trust etc ......... Thanks
  2. Anyone have experience or knowledge regarding BC Racing coilovers and the second gen Gt wagon ride quality?
  3. Family member headed to PAMONA for college, stranded in YUCCA VALLEY from New York. Need help finding a good honest repair shop in the Los Angeles area to help with this problem (2009 Outback). I'm in the Bay Area and can't help. Please message me.
  4. SOS! SOS! SOS! Family member headed to college in PAMONA from NewYork, stranded in Yucca Valley with dead engine, no oil (2019 Outback). Need help ASAP to find a good shop in the Las Angeles area to help with this problem. I'm in the Bay Area and not able to help. Message me please.
  5. 21 year old car that came zero history. Many questions with very few answers.
  6. Thanks. I found a button that fits that description, just above the kick panel. I'm retur ning the 3rd remote because nothing happens while pressing that button. Maybe the system was disarmed, blown fuse or something else that needs "trouble shooting". The car has the module, button and a sticker under the hood that indictates it's equipped with a keyless entry system.
  7. WOW! With some embarrassment I have to apologize and admit my hastyness, frustration and poor vision lead me to believe Subaru hadn't listed the torque specs in the factory service manual. I was very wrong! In plain site, I never looked in the correct section. Moving from decades of Honda to Subaru. Honda service manuals seem easier for me to navigate.
  8. Thanks for the info. However I’ve already finished the job. I was a kind of cautious and set a 11-12 ft-lb. Hopefully they will stay put. The ones that came out were both loose and tight. I’m curious what manual and where you found the 15 ft-lb?
  9. First time changing plugs and I can't find the manufactures "torque setting" anywhere. A factory service manual seems like a logical place, but haven't found it there or any place else. Maybe just overlooking it somehow. If someone can point it out to me I would gladly appreciate it.
  10. Actually I found a small black recessed button that could be it. I haven't found this listed anywhere (wiring diagram). However still no success. Guess I'm doing something wrong.
  11. Stevo F, I have said key fob and the Legacy has a (SUBARU) Keyless Entry Control Unit. But I cant find a button on the Unit to push. Is the button on the Unit or someplace else? A this point it seems I cant program the remote without ;pushing the mysterious button.
  12. Thanks, much appreciated. I did find a GOH-M24 fob on eBay and waiting for it to arrive. I still wasn’t sure about it since a previous eBay purchase wasn’t the correct fob.
  13. The Legacy I purchased (1998 GT Wagon) didn't come with a keyfob. I have exhausted my search effort to this point I have a part # that's useless so far. If anyone has a keyfob for similar Legacy and can share a photo of it. It would be a great day.
  14. So the OEM part# 11413AA033 and listed as Plug-Timing Hole. Dealer price $6.13 and still available.
  15. Cars don’t stay long at the yards in my area, but thanks. I decided to order the Verus Engineering metal replacement part yesterday.
  16. "Thanks" I wasn't able find this out anywhere (puzzling). Now that I know. I would prefer to use the cover if I can locate one. Or just create something.
  17. It would be great to get clarification as to the purpose of the rectangle hole in the engine case, which opens to the top of the flywheel clutch area, and if theres a cover for it? I would appreciate some help.
  18. Is there a periodic maintenance services section, as a supplement to go with this any place on the forum?
  19. Ok for starters I’m a 15 min drive east of San Francisco,Ca without traffic add traffic and it’s 1 hour or more. The car is a 1998 Legacy Gt Wagon 5MT. My post is not for shims nor buckets, it’s about the tool used to remove the shims with the engine in the car. I miss the CRX as well. It’s been sitting for while (many complications w/me not the car) It will be interesting and weird to be in it again after driving the wagon. Thanks for the replies.
  20. I have a few shops in mind but that’s a last resort. I’d prefer to do it myself (kind of habit). May delay it until I put the CRX back on the road.
  21. I have no idea about a conversion without shims. I don't think there's enough room under the hood for that type tool (your link). I have never had to deal with shims in cars or bikes (lucky until now). Some friends did and do with their bike. Actually, I think it wouldn't be such a pain if Subaru had engineered more space under the hood. I don't have time or space to pull the engine just to check and adjust the valves. I talked with dealer parts guy today about it and he told me Subaru doesn't make their own specialty tools. That Kent does, its the only one I've seen for sale and the lowest price USED is $300.00. The tool listed in the manual is discontinued. $400.00 to have done by a shop. The timing belt was done at 120K and its 189K now. You are correct, no plans to change the belt. I want to inspect valve clearance and figured I should be pre-paired once I start. No garage and with all the rain we're having, I have to be able finish things between the storms fronts. CRAZY!
  22. Thanks but not the correct tool. That tool is for removing valve springs/keepers. I'm referring to the tool to remove the shims from the buckets. And its $3-375.00
  23. Time for a valve inspection. Is there a source for a shim remover/replacement tool that want cost hundreds of dollars $$$$$.
  24. Sealed the sunroof to stop a leak until rainy season is over. Ordered some suspension parts.
