fishon1213
We were changing rotors and pads on our 97 Subaru today and came across this. Broken abs ring, might explain why the abs light is on. We recently purchased the car and just working on bringing it back to life. It seems I have three different options here. 1. Buy abs ring for $60, remove spindle, separate knuckle, press bearings... 2. Buy complete used spindle and replace. 3. Pull abs fuse, pull abs light and forget about it. Osei
Option two is best choice. Less work, since you'd have to pull spindle and separate for #1. O.
noahrexion
Agreed, plus you can get a rust free unit.
fishon1213
Thanks, it looks like I can get a used spindle for about $100. Just a couple questions... It looks like I just need to make sure it is for an abs car. Looks like they are all the same for legacy, impreza, outback, forester. Replacement procedure looks like... Remove axle nut, disconnect tie rod, ball joint, two strut bolts, unplug abs harness. Sound correct? Anything I'm missing? Is the abs plug inside the engine compartment? It is the front passenger btw. Thank you. Sent from my E6810 using Tapatalk

Osei
The abs sensor just unbolts from back of hub. Its magnetic so it'll have pieces of metal attached. Clean You'll need an alignment afterwards. get FSM here:http://jdmfsm.info/Auto/Japan/Subaru/ O.
