Combatgrunt
I'm looking at installing remote start in my 2018 Legacy Limited. The dealer told me their is an option to just keep it all on my factory remote/unlock FOB since I don't have a Key ignition. I looked on the Subaru Website and I have these two options the only difference I see is "Long Range" Remote Engine Start- Key Start - Subaru (H001SAL002) Price 335.20 Remote Start Long Range, Push Start - Subaru (H001SAL101) Price 3335.

tornichoe
Wow thats a little different lol. Do any options allow me to jsut keep the one FOB? or is that another OEM Part? The long range with the extra remotes still allows you to use the factory fob, but i've found it to be tricky. the sequence of lock button presses and the time gap between the presses to me has been a bit more complicated than it needs to be. For the longest time I didn't even know it worked, until someone here pointed it out. Now that its summer, I've been playing around with it. I'd say my success rate of starting the car with the fob is probably 40% and I'm trying this from 15-20 ft distance and a new battery in the fob. With the extra remote, I've had it start every single time last winter.
securityguy
Get either a Compustar or Viper...stay away from the OEM unit. You will be much happier in the long run and may even be cheaper with a few extra features.
Bombdigitty
I was really unhappy with the configuration of the OEM unit. I hate it shuts off when the door get opened. This was enough reason for me not to buy. Ill go with a viper if I decide to add the feature later.
